This study was commissioned by the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) to determine the socio-spatial nature of commuter movement and use of transit facilities on the University of Witwatersrand’s main campus. The research team sought to understand the systemic nature of commuter movement on the Wits Main Campus through several objective and subjective research means. The study was conducted over 6 weeks and employed quantitative and qualitative means of evaluation; fieldwork that employed local students as co-researchers, literature review of previous studies, commuter interviews to determine valuable experimental data as well as desktop studies of drone and aerial footage.
